Wroclaw Shopping: Picture of the stores on the Old Market SquareAs one of Poland's biggest cities and the regional capital of Lower Silesia, shopping expectations in Wroclaw will be understandably high and visitors will not be let down. Ranging from modern shopping malls and small boutiques, to galleries and gift shops, Wroclaw has a huge amount to tempt visitors with, and in general, prices tend to be cheaper than many similar-sized cities within Western Europe.

The Old Town district of Wroclaw is always a good place to begin your shopping trip and the majority of the city's most popular shops are located here, around the Plac Dominikanski and the Plac Solny, and also along the nearby stretches of the Ulica Jatki, the Ulica Kuznicza, the Ulica Mikolaja and the Ulica Szewska.

The Galeria Dominikanska is the city's main shopping venue and this large mall is home to around 200 different shops and plenty of eateries and exceptional Italian ice-cream parlours, should you need a break from carrying your bags. Located on the Plac Dominikanski and within central Wroclaw, the Galeria Dominikanska is just a short stroll from the Old Market Square of the Rynek and close to the Dominican Church, and opens Monday through Sunday.

Other notable shopping opportunities in Wroclaw can be found at the Market Hall, where many local traders regularly gather to sell their local produce or simply come for a cheap lunch. Sunday flea markets also take place in Wroclaw at the former railway station that is the Dworzec Swiebodzki, offering the chance to buy an array of local souvenirs, while a further flea market is held Monday through Saturday on the Plac Zielinskiego, close to the railway station.

Wroclaw Shopping: Modern store in the city centreThose who prefer shopping malls will find a couple of further options worth investigating in Wroclaw. The Grunwaldzki Shopping Mall (Pasaz Grunwaldzki) recently opened in the spring of 2007 and offers a combination of both stores and entertainment options, including cinemas, and has already become one of Poland's leading shopping centres.

Wroclaw's modern Arkady Shopping Mall (Arkady Wroclawskie) contains around 130 retail outlets and this covered mall is a great place to shop 'til you drop, whatever the weather.
